JOACHIM COODER

A unique and disarming style, which drags in a vortex of rhythms and imaginations

Joachim Cooder grew up immersed in music, alongside his father, the legendary guitarist Ry Cooder, a seven-time Grammy winner. From a young age, he toured as a drummer with his father, performing both live and in the studio. These touring and recording projects gave him the opportunity to share the stage and collaborate in the studio with artists such as Johnny Cash, Ali Farka Touré, V. M. Bhatt, Steve Earle, John Lee Hooker, Dr. John, Nick Lowe, Mavis Staples, The Happy Mondays, and most notably, the award-winning Buena Vista Social Club project. This iconic album sold over eight million copies worldwide and earned a place in the Guinness World Records as the best-selling world music album of all time.

Joachim Cooder, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, has announced a new studio album, “Dreamer’s Motel“, a collection of original songs set to release on November 13.

Co-produced by Martin Pradler (known for his work with John Mayer, Shawn Mendes, and Neil Young), “Dreamer’s Motel” sees Cooder venturing into new sonic territories, seamlessly navigating soulful Americana, folk, roots, and alt-country. With its rich melodic craftsmanship and understated charm, this 7-track collection is a testament to the vast range and deep musical heritage of the California-based artist.

Dreamer’s Motel transports listeners to a boundless sonic stratosphere, offering a nostalgic journey where reality blends with visions of hope and sweetness, lingering in dreams and memories.

The album showcases Cooder’s diverse influences. Caribbean rhythms and soothing vocals intertwine in “Sight and Sound“, while lilting guitars support the lullaby-like chorus of “Cool Little Lion“. The gospel-inspiredLet Me SeeMy Brother Walk features ethereal choral harmonies responding to Cooder’s lead vocals, as intricate banjo lines weave through a foundation of piano, viola, and violin. The album concludes with “Down to the Blood”, where vibrant psychedelic folk merges with the voodoo-infused Cajun style of Dr. John, delivering a hypnotic and unforgettable finale.
