The Soul of Contemporary Jazz

Born into a family of musicians, Rita Payés began her musical career at a very young age, debuting as a soloist on a series of albums alongside Joan Chamorro, which marked the beginning of her international recognition. From 2014 to 2018, she was a member of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, contributing to all the albums recorded by the group during that time.

Her close bond with her mother, guitarist Elisabeth Roma, led to a fruitful collaboration resulting in two albums, "Imagina" (2019) and "Como la piel" (2021).
Rita’s versatility as both an instrumentalist and singer has brought her to collaborate with numerous big band ensembles and jazz projects. Among these, her work with the renowned German WDR Big Band stands out, as they dedicated an entire program to her, featuring arrangements of her compositions.

In 2021, Rita Payés released her debut solo album, “Como la piel“, marking the beginning of her international career. This work represents an elegant fusion of jazz, bolero, bossa nova, classical music, and folk.

Recently, Rita was chosen as one of the vocalists to collaborate with Jon Batiste on his new album, “World Music Radio“. The five-time Grammy winner included the track “My Heart,” created with the singer and multi-instrumentalist.

With her new album, “De Camino al Camino”, Rita Payés presents for the first time a collection of entirely original songs, showcasing her fullest expression. It’s an intense and authentic musical journey that explores the beauty in everyday moments, a tribute to the roots that connect us to our origins and unite us as we move forward.
